In a simple activity, the City Government of Isabela through its City Agriculture Office led by City Agriculturist Maria Gina Alberto, joined in the observance, November 13, of National Rice Awareness Month with the theme ‘Be RICEponsible.’
A trivia game was held where winners were each given a pack of black rice. This was followed by employees of the City Hall enjoying arroz caldo made from the same rice variety.
Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 524 Series of 2004, the National Rice Awareness Month is observed every November to raise public awareness on rice, combat malnutrition and poverty, and attain rice self-sufficiency. In closing, CA Alberto then led the assembly with the Be RICEponsible Pledge, reiterating the plea for the responsible consumption of rice. (Words by M. Guerrero/Photos by AN Jamaluddin and M.
