Isabela City Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman through the IsaTV Productions of the City Information Office, organized the third campus tour, October 20, at Begang National High School.
City Information Officer Mendry-Ann Lim expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the faculty members and students of Begang National High School for their warm welcome. She also elaborated on the purpose of these campus tours, which is to promote the IsaTV shows that showcase and create awareness about LGU-Isabela City’s various programs and services.
Mayor Turabin-Hataman also delivered an inspirational message to the assembly. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of IsaTV’s efforts to engage with the community, sharing vital information about LGU’s activities and initiatives, aiming to inspire, and encourage students to become future leaders and active citizens participating in local governance and pro-people development. The local chief executive added that it was essential to keep the citizenry informed and updated about the city’s ongoing developments, enabling their active involvement in the process. She challenged the youth to strive harder in their studies so they can also become future leaders not only of the city but even of our country. “Whatever positions or field of work you choose in the future, what matters most is that you always give your best, dahil ang isang Isabeleño ay kayang makipagsabayan, sa anumang larangan,” she said.
The occasion also featured an intermission act by Jayvee Cabcaban, the victor of “Iba ka, Isabela! Got Talent,” which entertained the crowd. The tour was further enriched with engaging trivia games and a “Barangay nAMIN Show” in which both students and teachers actively participated. This particular episode of the Barangay nAMIN Show was sponsored by Councilors Yusop Abubakar and Jeromy Casas, represented by CPDAO Division Chief Gemma Casas-Paculio.
BCH Cable TV Network Inc., the local cable TV station where IsaTV channels and TELEdukasyon programs are aired, also joined the Campus Tour to promote and announce the extended reach and coverage of their services to include Barangay Begang. The local cable company, in partnership with the local government unit also offers free application and installation of its cable services for the students.
At the sidelines, Mayor Turabin-Hataman also visited the BeNHS Reading Center and was briefed about the many initiatives the school is undertaking to tackle reading gaps among its students. The mayor also checked on the set of arm chairs that the LGU donated to augment the school’s resources and inspected the nearby CPMDO-run Begang Teen Center.
Lending their support throughout the morning-long activity were BeNHS Principal Tita Tan, Assistant Principal Dr. Nursharif Baky, and other members of the said school community. (Words by SJ Asakil/Photos by M. Santos, CIO)
