Isabela City Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, alongside Vice Mayor Jhul Kifli Salliman, attended the 1st Inter-School Sports Club Competition 2023 with the theme “One Division, One Vision: Road to Holistic Future of Athletes in Sports” organized by the Department of Education Schools Division Office – Isabela City led by SDS Dr. Julieto Fernandez. The event took place on October 12 at the BNHS Gymnasium.
The day commenced with an opening parade from the BNHS Grandstand to the BNHS Gym, setting an energetic tone for the event. Following this, students from 16 secondary schools and 9 districts showcased their talents in a one-minute Saludo Presentation during the opening program.
In her inspiring message, Mayor Turabin-Hataman advocated for education and sports support, using funds from the Special Education Fund (SEF) and the Office of the City Mayor. She addressed educational challenges and emphasized the need for a balanced focus on academics and sports. The mayor highlighted the Isabeleño youth’s potential to represent Isabela City and committed, along with the vice mayor and councilors, to allocate funds for sports development, emphasizing the importance of financial support for grassroots sports programs.
The Inter-School Sports Club Competition holds a crucial role as a prerequisite for the upcoming Isabela City Division Meet.
In attendance were notable figures, including Councilors Yusop Abubakar, Khaleedsher Asarul, Jeromy Casas, Abner Rodriguez, Karel Annjaiza Sakkalahul and IPMR Mary May Julhari. The event also drew the participation of student athletes, coaches, sports officers, screening and accreditation personnel, technical officials, school heads, PSDS, EPSs, including SGOD Chief Henry Tura, and ASDS Dr. Laarni Villanueva, highlighting the broad support and involvement from various sectors in the community.
