In celebration of World Rabies Day, marked with the theme “All for 1, One Health for All,” the City Government of Isabela under the leadership of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman through its City Health Office and the City Veterinary Office, organize an orientation on rabies awareness and dog vaccination held on October 4 at Isabela East Central Elementary School.
Isabela City’s commendable efforts have garnered recognition and a recommendation from the Department of Health (DOH) IX to seek the prestigious title of “Rabies Free Isabela City,” an accolade well-deserved due to the absence of human fatalities caused by rabies since 2019.
Among the various barangays, the top 10 with the highest number of reported animal bite cases include Sunrise with 74 cases, Aguada with 47, Binuangan with 44, Lanote with 41, Begang with 40, La Piedad with 39, Eastside with 34, Baluno with 29, Cabunbata with 28, and Tabiawan with 27 cases.
Notably, several barangays, namely Masula, Lampinigan, Kapayawan, and Kapatagan Small, have reported zero incidents of animal bites, showcasing their dedication to promoting public safety.
