The event was organized by the Department of Agriculture IX in partnership with the Mindanao Development Authority and the Regional Development Council IX headed by chairperson and Zamboanga City Mayor John Dalipe. It aimed (1) identify issues and concerns confronting the agri-fishery industries in the region, and recommend actions/policies for the short term, medium term and long-term implementation; (2) identify possible sustainable large-scale agri-fishery production in Region IX, including support services such as power and water; and (3) secure commitments from both the government and private sectors in implementing the recommended actions.

It can be recalled that Mayor Turabin-Hataman’s push for revitalizing the agriculture sector of Isabela City led to the city’s first ever Agriculture Summit on May 30, mirroring the Administration’s commitment to make agriculture as a vital component in building a local economy toward a happy and dignified life for all.
