In pursuing the twin goals of gender equality and women empowerment in all stages of development in Isabela City, Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, through the City Government of Isabela Gender and Development (GAD) Unit convened the different women and pro-women organizations operating within the City, July 25 at the Sakayan Conference Room.
City Information Officer and Concurrent GAD Focal Mendry-Ann Lim introduced the GAD programs and best practices of the City Government of Isabela. She also discussed the Annual GAD Plan and Budget (GPB) form and schedule and solicited proposals for programs, projects and activities for fiscal year 2024. Creation of the Isabela City Local Council of Women (LCW) was also navigated during the course of the program.
The highlight of the gathering was the engaging exchange of ideas on proposed GAD activities, where everyone contributed their thoughts and suggestions.
Present in the meeting were women from various Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) serving as sectoral representatives of health, trade and industry, urban poor, elderly, Muslim women, agriculture and fisheries, PWDs, Indigenous Women, youth, health and media sectors.
