The City Government of Isabela Gender and Development (GAD) Unit headed by City Information Officer and concurrent GAD Focal Mendry-Ann Lim visited Barangay Busay and conducted a basic GAD orientation program among the parents and guardians of the Sakayan Kaalaman HapIsabela Mobile Library pupil-beneficiaries, June 29 at Busay Elementary School.
GAD staffers Jeanette Rojas and Jannica Mariz Taghap introduced the city’s GAD program and delivered topics on basic gender sensitivity concepts and social influencers. Highlights of the program include the workshop on 24 Hour Activity Profiling, a gender-based analysis tool for data generation and pro-active discussions on gender roles and stereotyping, shared responsibilities among men and women in the household and the twin goals of gender equality and women empowerment. It was actively participated by 40 parents and guardians alike.
The Gender Sensitivity Training (GST) is part of the HapIsabela Mobile Library information drive with the purpose of empowering communities through accessible factual information on gender and development, and targets to engage all the 45 barangays of Isabela. It is an initiative of the city government in furtherance of the administrative agenda of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman toward a fully gender-inclusive and gender-accountable City of Isabela.
