The Local Government Unit of Isabela City through Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman inked a memorandum of agreement, June 07, with Busay Elementary School (BES) led by Principal Maricel Dagoy for the “Sakayan-Kaalaman Fridays with the HAPIsabela Mobile Library Project” of the City Information Office’s (CIO) engagement with the said school’s “Project REaD-Hi.”
Serving as witness were Department of Education-Schools Division Office Isabela City Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Julieto Fernandez, Busay Punong-Barangay Kerbey Buenbrazo, and City Information Officer Mendry-Ann Lim. Also present were Councilor Karel Annjaiza Sakkalahul, Barangay Busay Kagawad Melany Duque, CIO Learning and Information for Barangay Readers Outreach Focal Darcy Madjalis, BES Reading Coordinator Girlie Espinosa and other faculty members.
Facilitated by CIO, the activity affirms the partnership between the former and BES through a 20 session-long reading program that aims to lower the number of struggling readers in the said school.
For her part, Mayor Turabin-Hataman lauded the initiative and hoped that barangays, host communities and other stakeholders could extend their cooperation to duplicate the project, emphasizing that education as a responsibility is not the burden of the local government alone but of everyone. The Local Chief Executive also extolled the project as a fine example of synergy that works toward a happy and dignified life for all. (Words by M. Guerrero/Photos by KJ Evardo, CIO).
