Secretary Frasco highlighted the rich potential of Mindanao in advancing the Marcos Administration’s quest for Philippines to be a tourism powerhouse in the world. She assured that DOT will be venturing to many activities and programs to unleash the tourism products especially noting the diverse, rich and colorful culture of Mindanao.

DILG Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. expressed the agency’s commitment and support to DOT in ensuring that local government units are ready to provide a safe and the best tourism experience to guests and visitors. Moreover, he highlighted the call for everyone to change negative impressions about Mindanao and it is high time to visit Mindanao.

Meanwhile DND Undersecretary Angelito de Leon mentioned the efforts of the agency and made sure to continue strengthening its efforts to opening Mindanao as a tourism destination for everyone.

This synergy among these national agencies gives confidence to the LGUs and other tourism stakeholders. For the City Government of Isabela under the leadership of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, Sustainable Tourism is one of the core agenda in the pursuit to a happy and dignified life for all Isabeleños. The City has been very aggressive in rolling several programs and infrastructure development which supports tourism, cultural and artistic promotions, preservation, and promulgation.

Other attendees include Zamboanga City Mayor John Dalipe, DOT Undersecretary Myra Paz Valderrosa- Abubakar, DOT Undersecretary Shalimar Tamano, Tourism Promotions Board Chief Operating Officer Marga Nograles, representatives from the security sector, government offices, CSOs, private stakeholders and the rest of the Mayors of Zamboanga Peninsula.
