The Department of the Interior and Local Government through the National Barangay Operations Office conducted the BIDA Caravan dubbed “BADAC ang BIDA” to showcase best practices and innovations on the fight against illegal drugs. BADAC stands for Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council.

As part of the “Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan Caravan” of the same agency, the activity was hosted by Dipolog City, May 24 where DILG IX Regional Director Paisal Abutazil and Dipolog City Mayor Darel Dexter Uy led the activities.

Participated by ten exemplary barangays from the entire Zamboanga Peninsula, Isabela City was represented by Baluno and Menzi. During the event, Barangay Menzi was awarded the winner of People’s Choice Award, while Baluno ranked fourth for the Judges’ Choice Award. The Isabela City delegation was ably led by Rix La Guardia, secretary to the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (Isabela City ADAC).

The City Government of Isabela under the leadership of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman through the Isabela City ADAC and Barangay Affairs and Governance Office has reaffirmed its partnership with relevant authorities in its progressive yet relentless fight against the proliferation of illegal drugs. Further, Mayor Turabin-Hataman has also sought to increase the number of drug-cleared and drug-free barangays in Isabela City as a platform to build “safe, secure and resilient communities” for law-abiding Isabeleños.
