Elements from the Isabela City Fire Station (ICFS) and the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRMMO) are set to undergo a 5-Day Basic Rope Rescue Technique Training organized by the Special Rescue Force of the Bureau of Fire Protection IX (BFP IX SRF).

During the opening program, May 22, Acting Isabela City Fire Marshal SINSP Wilhelm Anthony Albrecht spoke how the said training was a first in the history of the local fire station and recognized how it was made possible through the support of the City Government of Isabela led by Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman.

In his remarks, Vice Mayor Jhul Kifli Salliman thanked the men and women of the BFP for all their valiant services to the people of Isabela City, especially during calamities, citing flood incidents that hit the city last year. Barangay Affairs and Governance Office head Pedrito Eisma also echoed the same, particularly in keeping barangays safer. Both officials also assured of the city’s unwavering support to the BFP.

Meanwhile, BFP IX SRF Chief SINSP Rommel Carpio gave the overview of the training, highlighting how such skills are meant to make them more prepared and responsive to the needs of the people.

Also present during the said activity were CDRRMO Uso Dan Salasim, PDRRMO Nixon Alonzo, and UECI representative Ronald Paulino.

Disaster preparedness is a cornerstone of the Turabin-Hataman administration as animated by its ideal to build “safe, secure, and resilient communities.” (Words by M. Guerrero/Photos by M. Santos, CIO)
