In line with the celebration of the 2023 National Women’s Month, the City Government of Isabela under the administration of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman through its City Social Welfare and Development Office conducted “HAPI SI BELLA” CamPink to select women representatives from the city’s 45 barangays, March 08 at Tabiawan Covered Court.
In her welcome remarks, OIC CSWDO Nor-Aina Asmara acknowledged the presence and contributions of the partner agencies and was followed by the chair of the SP Committee on GAD, Women, Children and Family Councilor Karel Annjaiza Sakkalahul inspiring women representatives to enjoy the services rendered by the partner agencies.
During the plenary, Executive Judge Verna Kate Santos of RTC 9th Judicial Region Family Court Branch I, discussed the session on Laws on Women such as the salient points on Magna Carta for Women, Safe Spaces Act, Anti-VAWC Act and Anti-Sexual Harassment Act.
In her message on women empowerment, Mayor Turabin-Hataman welcomed everyone and shared the concept of HAPI SI BELLA, as well as her life as a mother and the development of Pinay Kilos in 2007, an idea to gather all women and to be able to give services which will help women.
“Bilang mga nanay, bilang kababaihan na nagtatrabaho or kahit nasa bahay, lagi nating nakakalimutan ang sarili natin, uunahin mo talaga ang pamilya, mga anak, so itong araw na ito, gusto naming kayong gawing masaya.”
Meanwhile, Pinay Kilos Executive Director Jasmin Teodoro discussed the importance of self-care in her definition of women empowerment. It was immediately followed by the launch of CamPinK and presentation of its mechanics. (Words by SJ Asakil/Photos by KJ Evardo and D. Jalani, CIO)
