The City Government of Isabela led by Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman through its City Information Office headed by CIO Mendry Ann Lim held a 2-day Gender-Fair Media and Public Communication Training for the city’s 45 Barangay Information Officers Network (BION), January 30 at the City Infirmary Multipurpose Hall.
On the first day, LEDIPO Chief Jamju Rivera provided an overview of disaster preparedness and cited the recent LPA-induced incessant rains as an example.
PIA IX ARD Rene Carbayas spoke about the role of information officers in disaster response and preparedness, as well as the importance of media communicators. He also discussed gender-fair media language, reducing gender stereotyping, gender-balancing languages, and treating men and women symmetrically during the session.
Meanwhile, City Information Officer Lim presented the BION 2022 Performance Review and discussed the roles of information officers in promoting good governance in line with the current administration’s 9-Point Agenda, which was followed by PIA-Basilan Infocenter Manager Nilda Delos Reyes holding a 2023 Communication Planning Workshop.
