Isabela City’s Campaign to End Violence Against Women

As part of the 18-Day Campaign to End VAWC, the City Health Office, the City Information Office, the City Social Welfare and Development Office in partnership with the PNP-Isabela City Police Station (PNP-ICPS) conducted a VAWC Awareness Campaign and vaccination drive, December 09, at Barangay Busay.

PSSG Lizel Ibañez of the Women Protection Services of PNP-CPS explained to the assembly the salient features of RA 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children (VAWC) Act of 2004, highlighting means by which the PNP is ready to assist them in such issues. Meanwhile, Social Worker Jean Mariano of the City Social Welfare and Development Office discussed how her office handles such cases. Barangay Busay Kagawad and VAW Desk Officer Melanie Duque detailed in her talk about how the barangay issues a temporary protection order and conducts mediation.

Synchronous to the activity was the COVID-19 vaccination drive of the City Health Office. Posters on rape were also distributed as well as the showing of audio-visual materials from the Philippine Commission on Women. (Words by M. Guerrero/Photos by M. Santos, CIO)
