𝟴,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗦𝗔𝗖𝗞𝗦 𝗢𝗙 𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗘 𝗗𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗕𝗨𝗧𝗘𝗗 𝗧𝗢 𝗦𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗢𝗥 𝗖𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗭𝗘𝗡𝗦 | The City Government of Isabela under the leadership of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, through the City Social Welfare and Development Office distributed a total of 8,000 sacks of rice to senior citizens in the 45 barangays of the city.
This is in line with the commemoration of Elderly Filipino Week every October 1 to 7 as mandated by Proclamation No. 470 issued by then President Fidel Ramos on September 26, 1994. The proclamation establishes the Executive Department’s obligation, via the Department of Social Welfare and Development, to implement a social welfare program supporting the well-being of the elderly.
The yearly celebration of the Elderly Filipino Week emphasizes the contributions of senior citizens in contributing to the development of the country. (Words by M. Lim, CIO/Photos Contributed by BIONS and CSWDO)
