Isabela City Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman attended the Orientation and Election of the Supreme Student Council Society of the Philippines (SSCSP) – Basilan Chapter as guest speaker, October 07 at the Basilan State College Amphitheater, with the theme “EYE FOR JUAN BASILAN: Embark the Filipino Youth to Establish Their Journey Toward Unity Attainment as the Nation’s Symbol of Hope and Transformation.”
Mayor Turabin-Hataman congratulated everyone on becoming members of a national organization as Isabela City representatives and encouraged everyone not to waste the opportunity to learn and to always remember that they are there to represent the city and its youth.
SSCSP-ZC Commissioner on Peace Building and Security Damhar Pahalawan, also delivered a message and introduced the SSCSP’s newly elected Basilan Officers. Following that, SSCSP officers and members were sworn in by SSCSP National General Auditor and SSCSP-ZC President Christian Anthony Besa.
SSCSP supports the government’s campaign against communist insurgency and seeks to promote peace and development in the country. It has collaborated with various stakeholders and agencies to support the government’s peace and development program, which aims to inform and educate students while ensuring their safety and well-being.
The creation of the Supreme Student Council Society of the Philippines is conceptualized by the Tactical Operations Wing Western Mindanao (TOW WestMin), PAF-CMO, in partnership with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), National Youth Commission (NYC), and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), in support to the Executive Order No. 70 creating the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF ELCAC).
