Isabela City Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, along with Acting City Agriculturist Eugene Strong received from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources IX, livelihood kits for fishermen on August 25 and distributed the same to recipients at the City Hall Lobby.
Five barangay fisherfolk association in Isabela City received mobile fishing bike (tri-bike), weighing scale with 10kls capacity, 35×45 stainless tray, HDPE Plastic Rectangular container with a capacity of 20-25 kgs, insulated box, megaphone, pail, boots, raincoat (long coat), colander, basin, chopping board, 10’’ butcher knife, plastic bags and a field hat.
The assistance was intended to help fisherfolk with food security and long-term income. These income-generating activities will not only help increase the number of fish in the identified area, but will also improve capture fisheries for long-term fisheries development, poverty alleviation, and food security.
