Isabela City Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, represented by City Information Officer Mendry-Ann A. Lim Sirilan, took part in the ceremonial handover of the newly restored Gabaldon Building, August 22 at the Basilan National High School Campus.
Also taking part in the ribbon cutting and ceremonial turn-over were Isabela City Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Julieto H. Fernandez, Principal Lyna H. Basri, BCHS-BNHS Alumni Association President Jaime Juanito A. Rivera and BNHS PTCA President Dr. Veronica Muarip. .
Also in attendance were Mr. Peter Eisma, who represented Rep. Mujiv Salliman Hataman; Engr. Nelson Akmadol, PPDO representing Basilan Gov. Jim Salliman; Asst. Principal for Operations Joel B. Saavedra, BNHS Faculty, Staff and Barangay Chair Maria Shirley Diaz of Eastside.
The conservation and restoration of Gabaldon-type school buildings aims to preserve the original architectural features, reinforce structural integrity, and prevent further deterioration, as well as to recognize the history of education in the country.
