On 07 December 1987, the United Nations General Assembly issued a resolution declaring the 26th of June of every year as the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADAIT). It aims to strengthen action and cooperation in achieving the goal of a world free of drug abuse.
As circulated by the United Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), this year’s observance carries the theme “Addressing the Drug Challenges in Health and Humanitarian Crises.” The theme focuses on UNODC’s efforts to address existing and emerging transnational drug challenges stemming from situations of crisis.
The City Government of Isabela through the Isabela City Anti-Drug Abuse Council, the City Health Office and the Isabela City Police Station – Philippine National Police conducted various activities in Barangay Baluno such as awareness campaigns to its constituents, conduct of assessment via ASSIST Tool by the City Health Office and Profiling by the Isabela City Police and conduct of unannounced drug test to the PWUDs of the said barangay who did not appear during the launching of CBDRP.
