For its launching, the HAPIsabela Mobile Library visited Barangay Maligue, May 18, Wednesday. It is a brainchild of Isabela City Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman and implemented by the City Information Office headed by City Information Officer Mendry-Ann Lim.
Also gracing the launching were Maligue Barangay Chair Nurol Atong and members of the barangay council, and Maligue Women Association President Ligaya Quiamco and her members.
This initiative aims to respond to the need for public reading spaces and provide the children of Isabela City living in the interior barangays of the city with access to quality reading books, hoping to inspire in them a deeper appreciation for the utility and beauty of reading as a critical skill for lifelong learners in the 21st Century. The HAPIsabela Mobile Library features children’s titles from internationally-acclaimed Adarna House.
Aside from bringing books to the community, the mobile library also showcases HAPIsabela TELEdukasyon video lessons directly to the communities.
Supported by our Gender and Development Program, this project also aims to support maternal literacy by empowering mothers in the community with GAD reading collections such as those from the City Population Office among others.
Through this project, the City Information Office also directly brings information on the local government unit’s thrusts and government services closer to the grassroots level, fulfilling one of its mandate.
The HAPIsabela Mobile Library will make stops in each of the 37 mainland barangays of Isabela City every Thursday.
