The City of Isabela de Basilan hosted a delegation of Department of Tourism (DOT) officials led by Undersecretary Myra Paz Valderrosa-Abubakar, February 21. City Tourism Officer Claudio M. Ramos II toured the group in some of the city’s tourist spots such as the Tagima Quincentennial Historical Marker at Fuego-Fuego Beach, the Isabela Channel featuring the Marang Marang Floating Cottages, and the Malamawi White Beach Resort.
Mayor Sitti Djalia A. Turabin-Hataman said that the visit augurs well for the city’s tourism sector as it begins to recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. This was also echoed by City Councilor Karel Annjaiza R. Sakkalahul who was also present during the said activity. Meanwhile, the DOT delegation affirmed its collective support for such endeavor.
The contingent was composed of Office of Tourism Standards and Regulation director Virgilio M. Maguigad, and DOT Mindanao regional directors Crisanta Marelene P. Rodriguez (DOT-9), Marie Elaine S. Unchuan (DOT-10), Tanya Rabat-Tan (DOT-11), Armin H. Hautea (DOT-12 OIC), and Nelia R. Arina (DOT-13), and other personnel of the said agency.
