Balay Mindanaw Foundation, Asia Foundation and the City Government of Isabela de Basilan headed by Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, held the Culmination of Capacity Building Training on “Harnessing Barangay Development Capacities in Sustaining Peace and Development” on February 11, at Querexeta Formation Center.
Different resource persons representing a variety of organizations/agencies and/or instrumentalities presented an array of activities/topics to the participants: The Department of Interior and Local Government discussed “The Local Government Code of the Philippines Book III,” the City Information Office presented the HAPIsabela 9-Point Agenda while the 101st Brigade, Isabela City, Basilan engaged with “Preventing Violent Extremism (Foundation Resiliency), (Drivers/Push and Pull Factor.” Meanwhile, the Nagdilaab Foundation focused on “Conflict Management and Peacebuilding,” and the Basilan Supreme Ulama Council took on the topic “Madrasah: Its Role in the Community.” From the Department of Education came the “Alternative Learning System Programs,” and the Philippine National Police itemized its “Programs in Preventing Illegal Drugs.” Also included were the talk of the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office on “Private And Public Partnership” and “Climate Change Update” from the Philippine Information Agency.
The select barangays’ representatives were also complemented with certificates for accomplishing the said training.
