The City Government of Isabela headed by Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman hosted a simple thanksgiving gathering for all its partners in the recently concluded National Vaccination Days and VAXX to the FUTURE: Tugsuk to Go campaign which ran from November 22 to December 31 last year. Dubbed as “Gabi ng Pasasalamat: VAXX to the FUTURE Culminating Program,” the said event was held on January 7 at The Farm Grille, Sunrise, this city.
In her message, Mayor Hataman expressed her heartfelt thanks on behalf of the people of the City Isabela de Basilan to all participating institutions and stakeholders who provided their overwhelming support during the course of the said COVID-19 vaccination drives. This partenerships between the government and private institutions, she said, translated to almost half of the eligible population of the city being fully vaccinated in record time. The local chief executive also assured that the city’s vaccination push shall last until it reaches the 70% of the target rate for herd immunity.

To affirm the efforts of barangay local government units in convincing residents to be vaccinated against COVID-19, a special recognition was also given to those which garnered more than 50% vaccination rate among as of January 05, namely:
Barangay Tabuk was also named for administering the highest number of jabs so far. In addition, vaccination sites which had the most number of operational days during the run of the National Vaccination Days and VAXX to the FUTURE: Tugsuk to Go campaign were also honored with Rural Health Unit – East topping the list. On the other hand, Rural Health Unit – West was recognized with the highest number of jabs administered among the established vaccination sites in the city.
Complementing the audiovisual summary of the said activities, the program eventually culminated with a screening of IsaBIDA Frontliner videos which showcased the many personalities deep in the trenches in the continuing fight against COVID‑19, highlighting the fact that vaccinating the population presents many challenges –from production to distribution, deployment, and most importantly, acceptance.
