Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman graced the Barangay Information Officers Network (BION) Summit 2021, December 21, at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Isabela City Infirmary. Serving as both guest and resource speaker was Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Assistant Regional Director Rene Carbayas who gave a refresher on the role and functions of the barangay information officers.
The whole-day affair also featured City Information Officer Mendry-Ann Lim discussing the Executive Order designating the BION, while Gay G. Palagtiosa from the City Planning and Development Office presented the topic on the issue on devolution and the crafting of a communication plan. Michael Jolo from the Department of Information and Communications Technology-Basilan talked about information literacy and cybersecurity, and social media handling was the task of Nhilda Delos Reyes from PIA-Basilan.
In closing, Mayor Turabin-Hataman reiterated the importance of the BION in expanding the reach of public service through public information. The lady chief executive also led the recognition of winners and nominees from the City of Isabela de Basilan in the recently concluded Philippine Information Agency IX and Mindanao Communications Network Awarding of the Region’s Outstanding Communicators. All 45 BION members received financial assistance while winners received additional cash prizes from the Office of the City Mayor.
