HAPIsabela Art Peace Gallery exhibiting artworks of children in conflict-stricken areas and Pelikula Screening of Women of the Weeping River, an internationally multi-awarded film directed by Sheron Dayoc were held back-to-back at the Qurexeta Formation Center, this city, Monday afternoon in celebration of the Mindanao Week of Peace 2021.
The said film screening was graced by the presence of the stars of the film, lead actress Ms. Laila Ulao and former DILG-ARMM Assistant Secretary Pearlsia Sharifah Alih-Dans who both won Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress respectively. Both award-winning actresses shared their experiences during the film-making revealing to the crowd that they have no prior acting experiences before shooting the film.
Mayor Sitti Djali Turabin-Hataman relating to their humble stories and experiences encouraged the youth participants to grab whatever opportunities that come their way for she believes in the talents of the youth of Isabela City, โna kayang makipagsabayan sa anumang laranganโ, setting the actors of the film as an example.
These activities participated by selected youth of the city are part of a series of initiatives by the City Government of Isabela de Basilan for the week-long celebration of the Mindanao Week of Peace from November 26 to December 2 this year, supported by its partners to include the International Organization for Migration, Nagdilaab Foundation, Inc., Social Action Ministry among others.
