🚶🚶‍♂️👨‍🦽🚶‍♀️👨‍🦼🚶 HINDI NYO NA KAILANGANG PUMILA SA ZAMBOANGA PARA MABIGYAN NG TULONG GALING SA NATIONAL GOVERNMENT! IKA-135 MALASAKIT CENTER BINUKSAN NA SA ISABELA DE BASILAN!!! ❤️
August 14, 2021 | BGH, Isabela City, Basilan – No less than Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, flanked by Medical Center Chief I Dr Sitti Nurussamsi Amilhasan and Basilan Governor Jim Hataman-Salliman, DOH 9 Regional Director Dr Joshua G Brillantes, Vice Governor Yusop T Alano, Maluso League of Mayors President Hanie A Bud, launched the 135th Malasakit Center located at the Basilan General Hospital, BCR National Highway, Binuangan, this city.
In his message, Go, the chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, said it will serve all the residents in the Cities of Isabela and Lamitan, as well as residents of all 11 municipalities of Basilan Province
“The Malasakit Center is for all Filipinos. The center will serve all those who are needing medical assistance, especially here in Basilan,” he said, noting that more than three million Filipinos have already been served by the centers nationwide.
The Malasakit Center is a one-stop-shop that helps poor and indigent patients through the support of government agencies that include the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth), Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), and Department of Health (DOH).
“Personnel from these agencies are present in Malasakit Centers and are ready to provide assistance to our people,” Go said.
Basilan is an island province separated from mainland Mindanao. Residents, especially with the successive lockdowns and restrictions to travel due to the COVID19 pandemic, experienced difficulties in availing of vital medical assistance as they need to go to neighboring Zamboanga City for the nearest Malasakit Center or regional offices where financial assistance may be availed from.
With the opening of the Malasakit Center at BGH in Isabela City, people in need of help will no longer have to go to Zamboanga to avail of immediate medical services and assistance from the government.
The senator noted that the conversion of the Basilan General Hospital into a secondary- or tertiary-level Basilan Medical Center would be among the priority measures he will be sponsoring in the Senate, adding that this was among the promises made by President Rodrigo Duterte himself when he last visited Basilan on February 2019.
Senator Go then proceeded to meet with Deputy Speaker Mujiv S. Hataman before shuttling back to Manila.
Congratulations! Enhorabuena!
