1st PESO-BESO Summit with the theme “Bringing Public Employment Services at the Grassroots Level through the Barangay Employment Service Office, in partnership with DOLE and attached offices POEA, and OWWA.
 
The Summit is the first of its kind in the Zamboanga Peninsula. In attendance were the Barangay Officials from the 45 Barangays and their respective BESO Focal Persons. The BESO Focal Persons are trained to assist in the dissemination of correct and legal information on employment service facilities of the government, local market information, as well as protection and support services against illegal recruitment and human trafficking.
 
It can be recalled that one of Mayor Dadah Hataman’s 9 Point Agenda calls for an economically progressive City.
Topics discussed during the summit include; Significance of PESO-BESO presented by
Ms. April Jane Barretto, LEO III, Regional PESO Program Focal DOLE IX,
 
Anti-illegal Recruitment and Trafficking – in – Persons (AIR-TIP) presented by Ms. Marietta Bellotindos, Head, POEA9 and PCapt. Hatta Turabin Abdullah, ICPS, and Capacitating PESO-BESO in Handling OFW Cases (Case Management) by OWWA9 Regional Director Ron Lionel Bartolome.
 
DOLE9 Asst. Regional Director Imelda F. Gatinao, provided inspirational message.
