EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE | The City Government of Isabela through the leadership of Mayor Sitti Djalia A. Turabin-Hataman provided educational assistance to the remaining 64 applicants of Special Program of the Employment of Students or SPES.
A ceremonial releasing of checks to the student beneficiaries was spearheaded by the Mayor herself, Monday, December 21, 2020 at Sakayan Hall, City Mayor’s Office, this city.
In her message, Mayor Hataman emphasized that the assistance is from the government and not from her. Thus, they should be thankful for the privilege granted to them.
“Thank you that we have the opportunity to help. Wag niyong isipin na pera ko to, hindi ko po ito personal na pera, pera po ito ng government. Ang responsibility namin is to ensure na yung pera ang mapunta sa dapat na mapuntahan. If you are to feel privileged, feel privileged na natulungan kayo ng gobyerno”, she said.
Each student’s shall receive 7,000 pesos each and are to do volunteer work and assist in the city hall’s programs and activities in their spare time.
Sarmin A. Allotong, 22 years old and a student of Universal College was delighted to receive her check.
According to Allotong, she did not expect to receive a call from the Mayor’s office and be selected as one of the beneficiaries of the educational assistance.
“Gagamitin ko po ito sa pang-enroll ko lalung-lalo na po ngayon at nalalapit na naman ang enrollment,” she added.
The educational assistance granted to delisted marginalized SPES applicants is part of the allocation for student’s assistance for education under the Office of the City Mayor.
