4th Quarter City Peace and Order Council Meeting

December 15, 2020 | Isabela City Mayor Sitti Djalia A. Turabin-Hataman and Vice Mayor Jhul Kifli Salliman convened the 4th quarter City Peace and Order Council Meeting last Tuesday afternoon at Tabiawan, Isabela City, Basilan. Situation reports and accomplishment reports were presented by PNP-ICPS and the AFP 4SFBn during the meeting.
According to ICPS head, PLt.Col. Homer P. Dumalag, there is an alarming number of rape cases reported in the city for this year and there is a presence of a certain gang group that serves as a threat to Isabela City. The ICPS has deployed PNP personnel to increase police visibility in the city especially during the holidays. He also thanked LGU-Isabela City for its continuous support to ICPS programs including the anti-illegal drugs campaign.
Meanwhile, the Special Forces Battalion continuously conducts development support and security operations in the province. According to the AFP data, there are only 27 ASG man count left in the entire province of Basilan as to date, but none is currently present in Isabela City.
Five (5) out of eight (8) jailbreakers were already neutralized by the armed focrces during the recent jail break incident. The AFP has also intensified the checkpoints to thwart enemy plans on illegal activities and implement Covid-19 health protocols.
Mayor Hataman during the meeting called for more concrete actions and aggressive programs to counter the increasing number of rape cases in the city by intensifying preventive measures aside from providing support to the victims. She also raised the issue on tagging ASG members so as not to compromise Basilan’s campaign and program to counter terrorism in the province. The Mayor requested for another inter-agency council meeting to tackle this particular issue.
