City Government of Isabela headed by Mayor Sitti Djalia Hataman led the turn-over ceremony of the 53 repaired bangkas to the fisher folks of Barangay Lukbuton, Malamawi on March 4, Friday. The distributed bangkas are under the Angat Buhay Program of the Office of Vice President Leni Robredo and was turned over to different beneficiaries last year.
 
However, these bangkas were destoyed by the typhoons which hit the area. Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman provided additional funds amounting to 650,00 pesos to facilitate the repair of these bangkas.
 
Angat Buhay program is aimed to fight against poverty and to address the needs of families in marginalized communities in the country.
 
Meanwhile, Mayor Turabin-Hataman welcomed the bangkas as these were approaching the shore. These were laden with fresh seafood and the local chief executive reminded the fishermen not to sell the bangkas.
