he City Government of Isabela led by Mayor Sitti Djalia A. Turabin-Hataman launched the celebration of Women’s Month 2022 with the theme “We Make Change Work for Women,” March 1 at City Hall.
This year’s sub-theme “Agenda ng Kababaihan, Tungo sa Kaunlaran” focuses on including women’s concerns in the government agenda and enabling more women to implement and at the same time, demand programs and services that can bring the country closer to narrowing the gender gaps and moving towards sustainable and equitable development.
Here are some expected activities prepared by the City Government for this Women’s Month celebration:
i. #HAPIsabela “HAPI si Bella”
March 2 – Sumagdang
March 3 – Menzi
March 4 – Sta. Barbara
HAPI si Bella offers free haircut, basic make-up, manicure and pedicure to 50 selected women. Along with these free services are orientations on Reproductive Health and Violence Against Women and their Children (VAWC) to be facilitated by the Isabela City Population Office.
ii. March 8 – Flores Por Las Mujeres
Flores Por Las Mujeres is a symbolic recognition to the women employees of the City Government for their valuable roles and contributions in public service.
iii. March (TBA) Basilan Women Executives and Legislators (BWEL) Solidarity Night
iv. March 14-18 Orientation on Adolescence Sexuality & Reproductive Health
v. March 21-31 Distribution of 5-kg. rice packs
A total of 2,250 chosen indigent women in the 45 barangays will receive the said provision.
vi. Usapang Babae at Iba Pa episodes
A radio segment of the HAPIsabela LGU Hour that promotes women empowerment and gender equality and sensitivity among all Isabeleños. This program airs at 97.5 DXNO Radyo Komunidad.
